9/14/2023 0 Comments Army 35p languages![]() ![]() I will be going tomorrow, but I’m super reluctant about swearing in at MEPS for this job and going into DEP, because I honestly am still considering other branches. I feel really guilty about wasting everyone’s time, but honestly I just have a bad gut feeling. I’d also like to ask, if I complete the ASVAB/physical/DLAB with the Army, how difficult is it to switch branches? I’m considering the Air Force and Navy. ![]() But I do still feel some anxiety about it all for some reason. I know the contract isn’t completely confirmed, I still have to pass the DLAB and I know nothing is 100% binding until I do my final oath and ship to basic training. It all moved so fast and I impulsively agreed to a 5-year 35P contract (though the $30,000 bonus made it really tempting). I’ve started becoming really reluctant to enlist in the Army. What do people who fail out of the AIT usually reclass into? Does anyone have current information on this? What languages are popularly being assigned right now, and does background in a language matter? I’ve read that it’s mostly random and Needs of the Army based. Honestly from what I’ve read online the Tagalog program is incredibly small and practically nonexistent at AIT. Is that right? I assumed they’d give me some time to mull over the various jobs available and talk to some family about it, but they were really pushing me to pick right there and then.Īlso, I’m Filipino and he emphasized how I’ll likely get Tagalog in AIT if I go 35P because of my background. But he said that couldn’t be done, and I HAD to go to MEPS within 7 days. The current one is in August, which is a bit soon for me. I asked if I could choose to wait for a different ship date for the MOS I picked because I’ve heard of that being done. Honestly, the whole process has been going too fast for me. All without asking if those days were ok with me. The recruiter scheduled me to take the ASVAB verification tomorrow, without confirming with me if that was ok with my schedule, and the DLAB/physical the next 2 days. I then requested another job I was interested in, which is 35P. I don’t know how the miscommunication could’ve happened at all, because I repeatedly asked. Then, when he started explaining each part of the contract to me, we got to the part that shows the training schedule, and airborne school was obviously there. But I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and he printed up a temporary reservation contract for that job. He then kept saying, no, 37F didn’t require Airborne school, and I honestly didn’t really believe him because everything I’ve read online has said it’s necessary. For example, I told them I was interested in 37F, but I probably wouldn’t choose it even though it was available because I didn’t want to go to Airborne school. They kept giving me misleading information. When I came in a different recruiter was assigned to help me, and they were very different from the first one I spoke to. I spoke to a really cool Army recruiter last week, and after taking the PiCAT a day later and scoring high (99) I came in today to discuss my job options and schedule a MEPS appointment. ![]()
